Austarc 16TC 

During my apprenticeship, I used a range of electrode brands through TAFE and workshop training. The Austarc 16TC was the most reliable and easiest to use, producing a smooth, stable arc with a consistent burn-off rate, making it easy to control in all positions, especially vertical and overhead. Other brands burned faster, had a less stable arc, and produced more spatter, making control harder and affecting the finish. The 16TC delivered the best results and is now my go-to electrode.

The 16TC may have been around longer than I’ve known but I’ve used them recently and found them to be the Best in Class that I have used. Learning to weld nearly 40 years ago then going to newer machines and consumables has been a game changer. These rods are easy to run giving a smooth weld appearance that is both high strength and neat. Great for pipe work. Work well in positional welding.

Austarc 16TC 

I weld in a workshop and in the field, I sometimes use other bands that are supplied by the customer. I like the 16TC as they are smooth running and have a very stable arc on 240 volt mains or generator power.

Had a go of a vertical up and they are such an awesome rod. Smooth, nice presentation after slag removal and leagues better than the Unimig rods I have had to use.

The 16TC will weld over anything, good for rural people who need to weld up old machines and cattle yard equipment that are covered in mud, grease, and rust because you don’t need to worry about cleaning it, you just weld straight over it.

I’m impressed how easy and stable these fired up, and the restart was just like a fresh rod, and the slag almost fell off, these really are an all-purpose easy to use rod. The sample pack was enough for me to fab up a short deflector guard on a ride on mower. I’m more than happy with the finish.

I’m new to stick welding, I was able to produce a really clean consistent weld with the 12P rods. I also found the glass peeled up nicely and was easy to clean off. I’ll definitely be buying some of these rods!
