High quality TIG welding requires not only skill but the use of a good quality TIG welding torch. TIG welding torches (TIG torches) are made up of quite a few intricate parts, including the TIG torch handle, torch body, hose assembly, tungsten electrode, collet and alumina cups. Each of these areas plays a role into the reliability of the TIG Torch and the quality of the welds. It is best to choose a quality TIG Torch, rather than basing your decision on price alone.
Unlike MIG welding which feeds a welding wire through a MIG gun to fulfil the welds, TIG welding uses a non consumable TIG Tungsten electrode, which interacts with a filler rod to produce high quality welds.
When it comes to selecting a torch it’s important to understand your application and the required set up – Air-cooled or water-cooled. It’s important to select the correct TIG torch for the appropriate TIG application.
